How Do I: Use the Ability to Create Groups with the ListView Control for Different Data

In this video Chris Pels will show how to group items when displaying data in a ListView control. First, see the basics of item layout in the ListView control with the LayoutTemplate and the ItemTemplate. Then, learn how the GroupTemplate relates to the LayoutTemplate and ItemTemplate within a ListView to establish a group of data. See how to use floating DIV elements to create a flexible tabular layout since any of the templates used with the ListView can contain any HTML. This provides significant flexibility in creating groupings of data using the ListView control. Finally, see some options for enhancing the look by manipulating the CSS styles used in the ListView templates and how to use the GroupSeparatorTemplate as well as the EmptyItemTemplate.

Chris, I do like your videos but, please keep them as the title says and don't give us a tutorial about CSS, we will search for it if we need, just drag a pre-made file and your off...

we came here to see the control in action, not to learn css :-)

and by the way... you pass half of the video with and extra </div> tag in the grouptemplate .

I appreciate the time and effort put into creating these videos by Chris, but this video was extremely dissapointing.  It states right in the title that we would "... Create Groups with the ListView Control for Different Data".  Where were the last two words in this video?  And forgive me but, this video has NOTHING to do with *Grouping*.  This was nothing more than a glorified CSS version of the way the ListView control recreates the "RepeatColumns" attribute of the DataList control.

Where is the GROUPING -- as in grouping data elements by some common item or value???  Where was that "different data"???

Thgis video was 3% binding a LINQ datasource to a ListView and 97% "How To" on CSS styling.

Come on Chris, you can do better than this!
