We've been looking for an editor like Telerik's Rad editor for a long time now. The rad editor has some great features that most other editors in the market do not. Some of the features that convinced us to go with the rad editor immediately include:
- capability to store and retrieve images stored in a database
- support for Safari
- XHTML 1.1 valid output (there are options to validate the output too). Output is standards based.
- ability to load template files (this is great for clients who want a starting point vs. building something from scratch in the editor)
- skinning capabilities
- ability to control the control configuration through external xml files. The look for each of our editors needed to be different and we were able to control each one individually through its own xml file.
- external CSS support.
And best of all, the Telerik team is superb! The support and response is just amazing. The product is highly recommended.

During the last three years of developing CMS solutions for the University of Washington, I’ve implemented four different inline editors and have carefully evaluated dozens of others. telerik’s r.a.d. editor just blows the competition away. The r.a.d. editor’s feature set, ease-of-use, and flexibility is unmatched. A look at the control’s documentation and exhaustive API reference at http://www.telerik.com/Default.aspx?PageId=1606 will give you a hint of what to expect: everything about the r.a.d. editor has been carefully planned and architected. We are now deploying telerik’s r.a.d. editor to support many public and intranet sites at the University of Washington: both developers and users are delighted.

In looking for an ASP.Net text editor, I tested many competitors' products. A couple were good, some were passable, but none had everything I needed until I found telerik's r.a.d.editor. I was able to download it and test it for free on my machine, so I could get a feel for what I was looking to buy without having to put forth any money at the start. I dropped it into VS.Net and found it simple to use, easy to customize and attractive.
The toolbar buttons can be added, subtracted and reordered through an xml file. Data can be shuffled in and out of a database or alternately saved into the page itself. Text can be saved either as text or as html, and words can be pasted in from Word and stripped of their formatting. The editor can be set as editable or not editable programmatically, so it can depend on the user logname if needed. It also comes with a spellchecker that has a button in the editor and customizable dictionaries (I created one per user as well as one general dictionary and it can draw from both)

Best Html Editor

We have trialed most of the suites available but would definately say that Telerik has the best offering. The other authors seem to present a muddled (and often irrelevant) collection of controls many of which would not be saleable in their own right.
Each of the Telerik controls can stand alone – all being written to a high quality with 'real' examples and help that is understandable.
Within the suite the editor control is probably the most impressive. With .net 2.0 support and many content pasting options it is the most complete editor around. We are extremely happy with the product and indeed the level of service we have received from Telerik.

I used Telerik's control exclusively to maintain content on a website. It is truly amazing! One of the biggest pluses for me was image handling. It's great to upload an image while editing the page, instead of stopping the edit, doing the upload, and then coming back into the edit, like other products require. And, like another poster mentioned, it works! I'm not getting script errors all the time, like with other products. Telerik really focuses on making sure they have the best features, and that those features do work consistently time after time.

I have been testing web based editors since 1997. I was a beta tester for Ektron's EWebEdit Pro 1.0. I have purchased and tested pretty much every editor that I know of. I've wasted countless hours trying to write my own. My only complaint is that I didn't start using r.a.d editor sooner!! I don't see any reason to use any editor other than r.a.d editor. I built a custom content management system that I use on all the web sites that I develop. I just replaced EwebEditPro with r.a.d. editor. However, having downloaded the free working sample, read the excellent documentation, worked through the included samples and got terrific support from Telerik, we knew that this was the one.
