I cannot watch the video with Media Player.

Error:

Windows Media Player Error Message Help

You've encountered error message C00D10D1 while using Windows Media Player. The following information might help you troubleshoot the issue.

Codec is missing

Windows Media Player cannot play the file (or cannot play either the audio or video portion of the file) because the Sipro Lab Telecom ACELP.net (130) codec is not installed on your computer.

The missing codec might be available to download from the Internet. To search for the Sipro Lab Telecom ACELP.net (130) codec, see WMPlugins.com.

How can this happen on a Microsoft site with a microsoft product?

twkessel : On March 08, 2008 2:30 AM said:

Clark -

The reason this can happen is typically because of a bad sound card driver (let me guess, are you using a Dell?). I would suggest downloading and installing: register.sourcemediaconferences.com/.../ACELPACM.zip

Let me know if this took care of your issue. Also, download the video then play it instead of streaming it.

Take care!

I also had problems viewing the video while running Vista on Parallels (virtualization). My problem was fixed by Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Device Manager->Display Adapters, then right clicking and updating the driver. This got rid of the Parallels display adapter and replaced it with a standard VGA Graphics Adapter. Now everything plays fine in Windows Media Player.

I could watch all of the beginner videos up to lesson 8. But I can't view videos 9 - 14. Very frustrating because they are excellent. I'm running Vista and it failed on an audio codec message and no video image with media player. Also tried with DivX player which was a slight improvement in that I could see the pictures but still no sound. Any help???

From all I have learned the language choice is more a matter of preferance than function.  Each works in it's own way but accompolishes almost the same exact result.

I'm unable to view the video with WMP either; I get the same codec error that others are reporting.

After googling a bit, and after getting very frustrated, I found a workaround: use winamp.

You can download it for free from www.winamp.com. Once it's installed, save the video to your HD, and open it with winamp.

FWIW, I use WMP all the time, and have never had any trouble viewing other videos (or playing audio files) with it until now. I'm using Vista and WMP 11.

jroush : On November 05, 2008 5:39 PM said:

One more thing: the mouse sounds in the video are pretty distracting. This is a small thing, and maybe I'm just in a bad mood from having had to deal with the codec error, but the sound of the mouse clicking is loud enough that I'm having trouble paying attention to what the presenter is saying.

Meh. I'll go take a rest and try again in a little bit.

The reason some are not able to view this video is using 64-bit OS.  I tried this on my Vista Premium 64-bit and I get the same error everyone is experiencing.  I then try to view the video on my Vista Premium 32-bit on my desktop.  I am able to view the video.  I am also using RealPlayer to view the video.  I hope this helps people having a hard time viewing the videos.

Best Regards,

Adjutor

Works for me, I can get started on graphic and illustrating using Adobe(if I have that program, which is "Adobe Creative Suite"), so I can create a web site with my drawings from "Adobe Creative Suite".

I follow the instructions to the letter on creating a new application. The application showed up in my web.config file w/o any issues. When I write the code in the CS code behind file

Label1.Text = ConfigurationManager.Appsettings.Get('MyTest");

Intellasense can't find ConfiurationManager. There is a red line below ConfiurationManager and MyTest.

I ran the application and recieved the famous asp.net error page highlighting the Label1.Text code. I'm using Visual Studios 2008 Professional with all the current updates this is also true with ASP.Net Framework updates on IIS 6.0 server.

Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem.  If I can't resolve this I have to hard code everything.

This post with the ubove post that I made.

Visual Studio 2008 Professional is reporting this error in debug mode.

Error 1 Newline in constant C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\WebSites\Lesson10\Default2.aspx.cs 16

atcrawford : On February 16, 2009 5:52 PM said:

Make sure you include the System.Configuration namespace.

In C# you need this at the top of yourPage.aspx.cs

using System.Configuration;

In VB you need this at the top of yourPage.aspx.vb

Imports System.Configuration

(I might be slightly off with this syntax, but google should correct any issues)

MSummers : On February 17, 2009 12:51 AM said:

Thanks for the support. It worked like a charm.

My next question is why wasn't

using System.Configuration;

automaticly place in the code behind CS file headers?

MSummers : On February 17, 2009 1:03 AM said:

This is a extention of my above post that was just created.

In my opion once you use the ASP.NET Web Configuration tool to to create a application the code

using System.Configuration;

Should be placed automaticly in the headers of all the code behind files. This includes all VB and CS files

atcrawford : On February 17, 2009 11:49 AM said:

I'm not sure how it is decided what frameworks are automatically included in new projects.  I pretty much just try to add stuff as needed.  If Visual Studio doesn't recognize something, then I know it's probably a framework that isn't included yet.  A quick search of msdn tells me which framework is needed and I'm back in action.

I love how in Visual Studio 2008 you can right click over the Using sections and delete any unnecessary usings.  That's a wonderful feature (I'm pretty sure it is in 2005 too).

atcrawford : On February 17, 2009 11:50 AM said:

And of course everywhere that I said "framework" in the previous post, I meant to say "namespace".  Is it lunch time yet? ;)

MSummers : On February 20, 2009 3:10 PM said:

Yeah I just found that out last night watching a Silverlight How to Video. By far Visual Studio 2008 Professional is the most powerful developers tool that I ever had. Thanks to Microsoft DreamSparks I got this tool for free.

I wonder what Visual Studio 2010 Professional would be like. Once the tool gets out of beta version I will try it.

MSummers : On February 20, 2009 3:35 PM said:

I use Microsoft Expression Blend 2 for graphics, and Design and Visual Studio 2008 for coding. Both of these tools work well with each other.

Expression Web 2 is ok but I like Visual Studio better for the coding.
