I have been a PHP web developer and Visual Studio win form developer for about 5 years. My view of Classic ASP completly change when I visit ASP.NET. The difference of thoughts occur when one compares two languages with no practical knowledge of one. After looking at these tutorials, I have no doubt that there anything you cannot? achive through Classic ASP. The security model is the best.

Hi, I've downloaded the Zune version of several videos and noticed the video is out sync with the audio in all of them.

These videos are really good for an asp.net beginner or someone migrating from another language like me.I've been a classic asp and PHP programmer for several years and all I can say is, these videos are the way to go.You can quickly learn more from them than a book!

Nice introduction for beginners in ASP.NET. People who start this set of tutorials can also use the virtual labs so as to gain much insight to the topics..

A friend of mine referred this site and I really found it very useful for beginners and intermediate programmers/ developers. I have seen lot of resources available for users. Lessons are very conceptual and easy to grab. I suggest that both naive and intermediate must explore this site. I want to congratulate Microsoft and developer of this site for provisions of such excellent and appropriate materials to us.

I agree with many that these videos provide an invaluable fast track approach to learning how to develop in the asp.net environment. My only issues are that some of the videos for iPod download seem to lose video around the 8 - 10 minute mark and in one or more cases the VB video link points to a C# tutorial.

This is precisely what I needed to get started.  I have plenty of experience with MS Access VBA programming and I always knew that experience wasn't for naught when it came to web design, and this video gives me hope and encouragement and has emboldened me to take this train to the last stop!

This video was very good. It helped me to understand the basic functionality of web based .NET application.

I have visual studio 2008, and mostly do my coding in VB.net

When I tried to make the site using VB.net instead of C#, I couldn't get source view.

My only options are design view and code view... anyone know why this might be?

hi, please, can you help me ? when a treat to download, it links to a page that does not exist. !!

Really enjoy all the videos.  I'm curious if anyone else is having problems playing them from the web page.  I can download the videos, but cannot play them from within the web page from any of the community sites on two differnt machines.  The control does not display correclty and IE reports an error:

"GLOBAL_PLAYER" is null or not an object.  

Both machines are Vista 64 bit.  Is it possible to remove the player control to force it to reinstall?

All these vedios talks about Visual Studio 2005 plateform. The current version is 2008 except for the database portion of the tools. My question is when are they going to upgrade the vedios and the VB and C# learning scripts to the current version.

The Video tutorials are very useful to me

I will second the wish expressed by another poster. Although these videos are great for three year old technology, I would like to see them updated for VS/VWD 2008, as well as having VB versions. I work in Visual Basic and, although the excercises and demos will work fine using C#, I don't plan to use it in development and would like to see the code development examples in VB.

I loved this video.  I'm a seasoned developer, I know HTML and C# so I understand the technology, but just needed the right introduction to ASP .NET.  It gave me all the right info, so this video certainly targets the right level of expertise.  I also find I can absorb information really well in this format.  At one point I was worried it wasn't going to do view-page-source to show how it works, but it did!  I had just paused the video to do that myself, and was pleasantly surprised when I resumed playback.  Good stuff.

I watched the SQL server video and thought it was great, however was very disappointed when I noticed this set of videos covered ASP.NET 2.0 and did not cover VB.

Is there a chance these videos will be updated and released that cover VB?

BTW I am looking for an ASP.NET 3.5 book, any suggestions as to what is best? I have the O'Riley book learning ASP.NET 3.5, but it's hard to follow.

Is there a problem with the servers. I'm showing 2 to 3 Kbps download speed. But if I check my speed from a test sight I show about 7300 Kbps. Needless to say trying to download a 16 MB file at 3 Kbps doesn't work. I have mangaed to get a 10 Mb file but all in all this doesn't really look too doable.

Judging from the videos on the MSDN site produced by LearnVisualStudio.net I suspect that these video would be really great. Unfortunately I am unable to access them so I guess I’ll never know. It seems the asp.net website has bandwidth problems.

Hey thanks guys,  I don’t know if you fixed something or if it was me trying a new approach.

I tried copying the shortcut and then pasting it into a browser just in case there was any formatting issues and all of a sudden it was working. Like I said I don’t know if it was that or if you guys fixed something.

After I thought about it for a bit it occurred to me that it probably wasn’t bandwidth issues but rather something with the server. You know, like it was connecting but then for whatever reason couldn’t actually download the file and so basically just sits there spinning its wheels for 20 minutes.

I just downloaded the Ipod file for this lesson and the visual component of the file has no relationship whatsoever to the audio component. Not a very inspiring beginning to learning ASP.net.

So i created the beginning Hello World program, and when i tried running it it said "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" any advice on how to make it work? Within the solution explorer there are some errors that are errorPageStrings.js, httpErrorPagesScripts.js, and dnserror.htm, however i did exactly as the tutorial did.

Help would be greatly appriciated.

More than wow. I just got out of a meeting where it became apparent that one of us C++ old timers had to pick up skills *fast* for web interface dev to our cool project - which has a deadline with un-cool realities.

Long story short, I am now a born-again student of all things wonderful about ASP and C#. A big boo-yaa thankyou. { I am now kneeling and bowing - really. }

this entire video series is amazing i am even entranced by the narrator.

Anyone else trying to watch the videos with multiple monitors? I was trying to watch this thing with the video on the right and VS2008 on the left monitor and each time I hit PLAY in the video and full screen it... then go to the left monitor and click on anything, the video exits out of full screen. Is that a Silverlight thing? Right now my solution is to download the videos then play in Media Player on my right screen...

As someone whose brain screams in frustration when reading most Microsoft prose, with dozens of words added to make it comply with internal politics and external marketing, just watching a video where people actually do things is a godsend.

How typical is this. I thought I would download some videos to see how easy it would be for me to learn ASP. Downloaded all the videos in MPEG 4 format to watch offline - put them on my laptop to view when having a pint in the local pub. Sat down only to find the video and audio is all out of sync. Had to come back and watch them online -what a waste of my time. If you can't even get that simple thing right what chance have I got?
