Creating Electronic Greeting Cards with “WPF/E” and XAML Browser Application Technologies

In this webcast, we explain how to use Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) Extensible Application Markup Language (XAML) Browser Application (XBAP) technology to create your own electronic greeting cards using custom text, vector graphics, and photos. We demonstrate how you can make announcements, party invitations, or birthday cards using photographs and simple animations. “WPF/E” is the codename for a cross-platform presentation technology for rich Web applications that enable browsers to render XAML in addition to HTML. The XAML that “WPF/E” supports is a subset of the XAML that is used by the Windows Presentation Foundation. Although we do not demonstrate how to produce these greeting cards using “WPF/E,” we do explain the relative advantages and disadvantages of using “WPF/E” versus XBAP for this task. We also provide a detailed discussion of the limitations inherent in XBAP applications, like browser requirements, security, and more.
