In this session, we look at the new configuration system in Microsoft Internet Information Services
(IIS) version 7.0. Learn how Microsoft improved IIS 7.0 configuration through the use of
a file-based hierarchical configuration system, giving you much greater flexibility when configuring
IIS 7.0 than was available in earlier versions of IIS. We demonstrate how to delegate the
administration of server, Web site, and Web application settings to non-administrator users and how
to control the delegation of these settings so that only the settings you wish other users to modify
are available to them. We also examine the new IIS Manager and the new managed API on which it
is built, showing how you can use the IIS Manager to carry out IIS 7.0 administration tasks from
a GUI and how to manage and control the IIS 7.0 server and Web sites programmatically.
