This week we look at the provider model available to developers in the Microsoft .NET Framework. Microsoft ASP.NET version 2.0 includes powerful and flexible application services that provide support for things like membership (user name/password credential storage), role management, and navigation—right out of the box. In this webcast, you learn how to extend these services and consume them from a variety of client applications. We begin with an overview of the included providers and explain how to configure them and use their basic controls. We also discuss how to create a custom provider. Next, we explore how to interact with application services using hot Web technologies like ASP.NET AJAX and Microsoft Silverlight. Finally, we take a look at using the new ASP.NET 3.5 client application services from a Windows client application. In this webcast, you can gain a thorough understanding of how to use application services to build membership, profile, and other systems that meet your Web and Windows application needs.
