And developers usually don't realize this until they are well into the project and it's too late to go back.

Check all your possible case scenario, low level detail control and wrapper's roadmap before you commit your energy into it.

While MVC may force some extensibility, a well architeched web forms application can be just as extensible. You can still separate concearns with a web forms application if you architecht correctly. It just doesn't force you to.
