$("#divContactList").load("/Contact/Index/" + groupId);

selectGroup(groupId);

in

function navigate(sender, e)

in my opinion is not necessary because these will be handled by function successContactList() and beginContactList(args) respectively.

I commented out those two lines, and the code still works OK.
