jeppe_r you sure your using a standard HTML button? and not an ASP button? as a standard HTML button cant cause a standard postback as far as i'm aware.

It works great when there is one updatepanel. But I have two update panels in my page and this method seems to refresh both of them. I tried both the methods you suggested and both of them give me the same results.

I have a scnario a little bit diffrent; what if we have a dynamic control and and with many dynamic buttons? , so button will be dynamically created ( all buttons are inside web control ) so

1- lets call a content page from master page button

2- ContentPlaceHolder load a page and PlaceHolder inside the aspx content page load a control dynamically but before loading this web control pass a value to the web control (example pass 5 )

3- web control creat 5 button reading and names come from enumerated collection.

we are good so far.. :)

now ... :( ... we want to call update panel based on your scenario, ( the problem is button names are dynamically generated , would you please tell me how we can use your method based on this scenario?
