Works like a charm. But when you try to do the same dynamical with button or link, it only works on every first click, second click post-backs the whole page.

has autopostback

Take away the autopostback and it doesn't work.

take away the

<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="DropDownList1" EventName="SelectedIndexChanged" />

works fine

Meaning its not really working as an async postback
