If you have a list of Products on your page, it would be nice to have "ProductCode" as the StaticID, and ProductCode_1, ProductCode_2 etc. as your ids.

This would give the ultimate control and leave it up to the developer to ensure the IDs work on the page.

Basically, he plans on setting the PAGE's ClientIDMode to "Static" For controls like the ListView, setting the ListView to Static, but the internal ITEMS to Predictable, will get something like this:

You can have more control over the IDs if you set the page to "Static" the DataContainer to Static and each ServerControl inside the ItemContainer to Predictable. You have to be a little bit careful about duplicate IDs but you have MUCH cleaner URLs.
