I can create Roles, but no users. (and any others with the same problem).</p><p></p><p>I was just porting my web application on to another machine and was pulling my hair out with the &quot;Login failed for user &#39;AspNetServicesUser&#39;&quot; error.</p><p></p><p>I then realised something that Joe hasn&#39;t mentioned in his video.</p><p>When you install it, by default the system is set ONLY to accept Windows Authentication for its logins.</p><p>You MUST allow BOTH SQL server AND Windows authentication to get this to work.</p><p>One way to achieve this is to open the database in SSMS and then right-click on the server (&quot;.\SQLEXPRESS&quot; in my case - it&#39;s the root in the tree-view on the left hand side).</p><p>Next look it its properties - a new popup will open.</p><p>On this popup select &quot;Security&quot;, and then click on the radio button marked &quot;SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode&quot;.</p><p></p><p>You have to restart the SQL service.
