At the suggest of other related posted I have added this file to the bin folder of the site and also try referenceing the file in the code at the top of the page with @using webmatrix.data. I am stuck! I would be grateful for any help you could lend.

The Database class is built into ASP.NET Web Pages, and there should be no issue with referencing it in code. For sure you should not have to add the assembly to the bin folder. I suggest that you post your query on the ASP.NET forums (forums.asp.net/+and+ASP+NET+Web+Pages) and see if someone there can help figure out what the problem is.

For the RC release, they removed the data package from the Empty Site template. (It was automatically included in the template in earlier releases.) I've added a section "Adding the WebData Package" that describes how to install the package. Hopefully that will solve the problem!

When I try to display the db in the browser I get:

HTTP Error 404.8 - Not Found

The request filtering module is configured to deny a path in the URL that contains a hiddenSegment section.

Any ideas? - googling suggests its something to do with the App_Data folder

The problem was that the Movies.cshtml file was in the App_Data folder instead of the bin.

Also, I was not able to get youvere's workaround (entering database data via the AddMovie code) to work - it threw a syntax error on line 16.

Any ideas out there?
